Queens Park has won the ILT Great Southern Challenge, with its win coming down to the last competition round, held on its home greens over the weekend.
The competition has averaged more than 130 golfers at each of its four rounds, proving it is certainly a very popular competition amongst the four town clubs.
Queens Park won the challenge with a total of 1521 points, over Southland Golf Club (Oreti Sands) on 1512, Greenacres on 1461 and Invercargill on 1410. The final round was won by Queens Park with 410 to Oreti's 382.
The top male and female individuals respectively across the four rounds were Kelvin Wilson (Oreti Sands) on 167 and Judy Murray (Queens Park) on 133.
The semi-finalists for the MLT Presidents Pennants competition have been found.
Invercargill is guaranteed a team in the final, with Invercargill A playing Invercargill B in one semi-final, while Wyndham will play against the Golf Southland Juniors in the other semi-final. Semi-finals and finals will be played at Gore Golf Club on September 8.
The latest round was played at Invercargill on Saturday and results were as follows:
Section 1: Wyndham 3 Greenacres 1 (B Sinclair defeated J Hall, G Sutherland defeated B Geary, B Dynes defeated C Sherlock, D Owen lost N Piggot); Queens Park A 2 Invercargill B 2 (P McDonald lost C O'Rorke, N Paraki defeated B Terry, G Erskine defeated D O'Connor, J Osborne won by default).
Section 2: Invercargill A 3½ Gore½ (T McLean defeated S Hellier, K Mariu square G Brinsdon, K Dobbie defeated T Nichol, P Adams defeated P Mowat); GS Juniors 4 Queens Park B 0 (S McCracken defeated S Ramsay, S Hansen defeated R Gregory, L Todd defeated M Mackway-Jones, J Kean defeated G Ruddenklau).
Forty of the south's top female golfers converged on SBS Bank Invercargill Golf Club on Monday for the annual Town versus Country match up.
In a very close day's play, Country was ahead 5½ to 4½ after the morning's foursomes, and secured victory with a 10½ to 9½ win in the singles that afternoon, for a 16-14 overall win.
The Southland Men's Veterans play fortnightly around the province and had 50 in the field when they played at Queens Park last week. The top score of 39 went to Bill Maha on countback.

SBS Bank Invercargill Golf Club is gearing up to host the ILT Gold Cup, a two-person team tournament held annually.
The popular tournament, which is open to male and female players, will be played on the weekend of September 21 and 22, with a 4BBB stableford on the Saturday and aggregate stableford on the Sunday.
All entries that are in before September 8 will go in the draw to win rounds at Jacks Point or a dozen golf balls - so get those entries in early to firstname.lastname@example.org
