Parry misses upset at Sydney Darts Masters
Invercargill's Warren Parry has gone down fighting in the opening round of the Sydney Darts Masters tonight.
Taking on eighth-seed Paul Nicholson in the first match of the evening, Parry pushed Nicholson through to the 10th of 11 legs, with the first eight legs going with the throw in front of a 1500-strong sellout crowd at Sydney's Luna Park.
Parry got off to a nervous start but he had his chances against an out-of-sorts Nicholson.
A three-time world championships competitor, Parry was unable to break the naturalised Australian, who goes by the nickname 'the Asset'.
Auckland butcher Monty Tuhua was scheduled to meet world number three Adrian Lewis later in the opening night of the Professional Darts Corporation's first ever tournament in Australia.
