Wild riders rip down the mountain
Dirt, dust and several crashes were all part of the Linger and Die Enduro Mountain Bike Race, in Clyde and Alexandra on Saturday.
Organiser Phil Oliver said there were two categories at the event and a total of 97 riders took part in round one of the Southern Series downhill competition and 93 in the endurance race, which doubled as the first race in the New Zealand Mountain Bike Crown Series.
Riders in the downhill section had to race down the Clyde lookout hill while enduro riders started in Clyde and worked their way through four stages, which included biking up the hill, before finishing in Alexandra.
Alexandra riders dominated the top spots at event with Matt Scoles taking the title in the downhill section and James Pollard winning the endurance section.
Oliver said sunny and still weather made for great riding and everyone who took part in the event had a great day.
