A good omen for Mackintosh?
Southland rugby captain Jamie Mackintosh had something to celebrate even before he brings up his 100th game for the province against Otago in Dunedin tomorrow.
A horse owned by a syndicate including Mackintosh, Julianna Belle, comfortably won the second race of the Northern Southland Trotting Club's meeting at Ascot Park this afternoon.
The syndicate bought the horse four weeks ago.
The Stags hopped on a bus for Dunedin this afternoon and were set to have a light training run later today.
They will take on Otago in a Donald Stuart memorial clash at Forsyth Barr Stadium from 2.35pm tomorrow.
