Southland wind up sixth
The Southland netball team has finished sixth at the national provincial championships in Dunedin.
After an exciting win over Wellington on Thursday, Southland found the going tough against North Harbour yesterday in the playoff for fifth place, losing 69-40.
Krishanee Tamou, who fell awkwardly in the win over Wellington, has been diagnosed with badly ruptured ligaments in an ankle and is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
In the final Southern Steel shooter Te Paea Selby-Rickit landed the winning goal on the final buzzer to help defending champion Otago A to a 54-53 win over Hamilton.
