Dunedin too sharp for Southland
Southland were well beaten by Dunedin yesterday on the final day of the Otago Districts under-17 cricket tournament at Oamaru.
Southland went into yesterday's game on the back of losses to North Otago and Otago Country.
Batting first were struggling at 69-4 although Liam McWilliam (34) did his best to claw his team out of trouble.
It was Ryan Duff however, that again played the starring role for Southland as he whacked 60 from 29 balls which included five sixes.
In Duff's three innings at the tournament he scored 158 and faced only 85 balls.
His knock of 60 yesterday got Southland to a respectable first innings total of 190, however it proved to be well off what was required.
In 36.4 overs Dunedin racked up 273-4 before the game was called off.
Joel Meade was the star for Dunedin scoring 119 off 48 balls. His remarkable innings included 10 fours and 10 sixes meaning he scored 100 runs from boundaries.
