Four Southlanders were named in South Island under-15 tournament teams yesterday at the completion of both the girls' and boys' tournaments held at Surrey Park in Invercargill.

Outfielder Harry Sapwell was the only Southlander named in the Southland boys' tournament team, while Jazara Hopa, Alex Thurlow and Hannah Wilson made the girls' tournament team.

Hopa was also named the most valuable player of the under-15 girls' tournament for her impressive pitching deeds.

Southland progressed to yesterday's final in the girls' section but come up short against well-drilled Canterbury team, losing 10-5.

In the boys' tournament it was Nelson and Canterbury who progressed to the final where Nelson defended their title winning the decider 4-0.

The Southland boys' team finished sixth losing their final game 16-3 to Marlborough yesterday.
