Three-time F1 world champion Nelson Piquet will be watching on at Teretonga this weekend as 15-year-old son Pedro races in the opening round of the Toyota Racing Series.
Piquet snr, who won his third world title after defeating team mate Nigel Mansell in 1987, flew into Invercargill in his private jet this week.
Now a successful Brazillian businessman, all four of Piquet's sons are involved in motor racing, with Pedro already showing great promise on the track having first got behind the wheel as an 8-year-old.
The Toyota Racing Series gets under way with racing on the southern motor circuit on Saturday and Sunday.
