Southern Institute of Technology has confirmed its sponsorship of the Southland Sharks National Basketball League franchise for the fourth year running.
SIT deputy chief executive Bharat Guha said the SIT has sponsored the team since its inception in 2009 and had built up a positive relationship during that time.
"We feel the reason we have continued to support the Sharks is because basketball is gaining in popularity with the younger generation and the Southland Sharks have been excellent ambassadors in the past for SIT.
"There are quite a few initiatives to implement between the SIT marketing team and the Sharks, bearing in mind their first commitment is to win the championship again. The Sharks have made the province of southland proud."
The Southland Sharks' first 2014 NBL game is on Friday, April 4, against the Otago Nuggets at the ILT Stadium.
