South Otago High School twins Abby and Sophie Erwood will trial for a place in the New Zealand secondary schools netball team this weekend.

They are among a group of 25 of New Zealand's best young netballers being put to the test in Auckland.

The group will be cut to 16 for a three-day camp in Auckland at the end of April and, from this, the final 12 will be selected for an international schoolgirls' tournament in Adelaide in May.

New Zealand won the tournament in Rotorua last year.

Marianne Delaney will coach the team, with Julie Seymour as assistant coach.
