A week of petrol head heaven is about to start in Southland.

Napier brothers Maru Gray and Nobby Gray are amongst the first to arrive at Oreti Park tent city for this year's Burt Munro Challenge.

The pair left Napier on Friday and visited family enroute on their way to Southland.

This is the brothers first challenge.

It was something they both wanted to tick off their bucket lists.

They said they were both looking forward to the warm southern hospitality even if the weather might be less inviting.
