The Burt Munro Challenge has hit top gear with petrolheads being treated to two different events today.

Racing got under way this morning with the Teretonga Sprints at Teretonga Raceway, which features Bluff Hill Climb champion and New Zealand Superbike rider Ryan Hampton.

The action will then turn to Oreti Park Speedway from 4.30 this afternoon, where a large expected crowd is expected for the Speedway Spectacular event.

Southlanders Paul Hayes (solos) and Aiden Thwaites and Daniel Gillett (sidecars) will be attempting to retain their Burt Munro Challenge speedway titles from a year ago.

The Burt Munro Challenge concludes tomorrow with the Wyndham Street Race, beginning at 10am.
