Forget bracing for a backlash, the Hurricanes say they'll be the ones most motivated to right their wrongs when they play the Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday.

Stormers coach Allister Coetzee has done his best to talk up the "anger" and "embarrassment" among his squad after their 34-10 loss to the Lions.

However, Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett and wing Cory Jane said the Stormers could count on getting as good as they give in a match that has taken on great importance for both teams.

"We are [expecting them to be fired up], but we're no different," Hammett said. "We're very proud of how hard we've worked to get to the start point and we lost by 18 points, so we are no different I assure you."

Frustrated by a first match in which he only touched the ball twice from set piece, one being from a forward pass, Jane echoed his coach's sentiments.

"They have lost a few [players] and they're under pressure. They didn't play too well against the Lions, so they'll want to come out cracking," he said.

"But having said that we're not too worried about a backlash because we didn't get a win either.

"It should be an interesting game where both teams are desperate to get a win, but more so us.

"We're at their home ground, we're in South Africa and we definitely want to come away with some points."

Under heavy fire from their fans, Coetzee has made just one change to his starting side that lost to the Lions with Jaco Taute coming in at fullback, forcing a backline reshuffle.
