Craig Ferguson will be stable driver for Ascot Park trainer Wayne Adams next season.

Ferguson, of Edendale, confirmed the appointment today. He worked for Wyndham horseman Brendon McLellan for most of this season and has spent the winter in the employ of Canterbury trainer-driver Mark Jones.

''I've learned a lot since I've been at Mark's,'' Ferguson said today.

Ferguson has not finalised his last day of work for Jones, but reckoned he would be back in Southland late next week.

''It's a great opportunity I've been given. Wayne's got some very nice horses.''

The junior driver is replacing Tim Williams who returned to Christchurch last week to work for trainers Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen.
