Southland rugby league fans are celebrating after the Rams beat the West Coast Chargers 40-34 at Wingham Park in Greymouth this afternoon.

The Rams ran in eight tries, includiing three from wing Dylan Lovett.

"This is huge for Southland rugby league, coming up here and winning,'' Southland District Rugby League chairperson Cheryl Officer said.

The Rams have won both their games in the South Island premier competition. Last Saturday they trounced the Otago Whalers 44-6 at Sandy Point, near Invercargill.
