Winton's Ross Clark has received a racecourse manager's award.

He was presented with the Industry Contribution Award at the New Zealand Racecourse Managers Association's conference in Palmerston North recently. The award recognises the work of one of its managers.

Clark, who has owned, trained and bred gallopers for many years, became course manager of the Central Southland Raceway in 2004.

Improvements in the pipeline for the course include an irrigation system for the galloping track, new carpet on the ground floor of the birdcage grandstand and three new showers for jockeys and drivers' rooms.

''The place is looking pretty good at the moment,'' Clark said of the Raceway.
