Central Otago's star pacer, Pembrook's Delight, is two and a-half weeks away from trialling.
Trainers Geoff and Jude Knight gave the Bettor's Delight 5-year-old her first serious training run in this preparation on Wednesday. Pembrook's Delight ran 2400m in 3min 13sec, her final 800m in 57 and 400m in 27.
''She's come back real strong,'' Geoff Knight, of Roxburgh, said.
One of Pembrook's Delight's goals this season is the Southern Belle Speed Series. She won the series final last season.
