Wingatui trainer Steve Anderton is looking forward to the southern 3-year-old classics with The Diamond One after she finished fourth in today's Group I One Thousand Guineas at Riccarton.

She raced handy on the rail and kept going strongly in the run home, finishing two and a-half lengths from winner Rollout The Carpet. It was The Diamond One's fifth start.

''She went really really well,'' Anderton said from Riccarton.

''Halfway down, I thought she was plugging and the others would come over the top, but she stuck on.''

Anderton will now spell The Diamond One for two or three weeks before preparing her for the southern guineas races early next year.

Meanwhile, Invercargill galloper Our Bee Jay won a $30,000 rating 85 1800m at Riccarton today. Trainer Lisa Vaughan owns Our Bee Jay with rugby identity Simon Culhane.
