Ted West is training up to expectations and will be set for the Wairio Cup at Winton on December 22.

Blood tests revealed he was slightly dehydrated after finishing fifth in the Riverton Cup at Ascot Park on November 4. Ted West raced well below his best that day.

Co-trainer Ray Faithful is not convinced dehydration was to blame. He doesn't discount lingering effects of a vaccine spoiling Ted West's cup run.

The vaccine was given to the gelding 10 days before the race.

''I've given him a couple of run alongs since and he seems OK,'' Faithful said at the Wyndham harness meeting yesterday.
