Ascot Park's Sean Bellew has been given Marechal to train for the southern guineas races early next year.

She won a 2-year-old race at Otaki last November for Matamata trainer John Sargent. Marechal finished fourth in the Group III Eclipse Stakes at Ellerslie on January 1.

Darrin Skerrett is set to make a comeback to race-riding.

The Gore horseman has not ridden in a race for four and a-half years. He rides trackwork at the Gore Racecourse and has been in the saddle at Southland trials.

Skerrett hopes to ride at the Winton Jockey Club meeting on December 10.
