Shards Of Myross, a half-sister to New Zealand Derby winner Likmesiah, won the Bryleigh Stud/Washington VC Pace at Gore today.
She was having her third start for Westwood trainers Jonny Cox and Amber Hoffman after earlier racing from the Lorneville stable of Tony Stratford.
''She went good in her last start at Invercargill [August 11],'' Hoffman said.
''She didn't get a drag into it and kept coming.''
Conical Hill broke at the 400m when outside the leader in the Hokonui Honda Pace today. Driver Shane Walkinshaw said Conical Hill was travelling easily at the time.
''He rolled out of his gear three times. A little bit of work on his gear and he'll be right for Winton [September 8].''
Owner-trainer-driver Alan Clark scored with Speedy Success in the Kubala Seeds Ltd Gore Trot. Clark has a link with the runner-up, Zachary Smith, by being his breeder.
McArdle Meg became the seventh winner out of Meagunn when she triumphed in the Kim McDowall Painting and Decorating Ltd Pace today.
Meagunn won four races, including a heat of the DB Draught Fillies' Series.
