Gore gelding Phantom Grin will probably begin a new campaign at Addington on September 6.

Owner-trainer Matt Brinsdon said tonight Phantom Grin would trial at Wyndham tomorrow and then sent to Robert Dunn's Woodend Beach stable.

The 6-year-old Grinfromeartoear gelding will start in either the Group III $25,000 Maurice Holmes Vase (2600m free-for-all stand) or a $12,000 three to six-wins (2600m mobile) contest at Addington.

The Group III $25,000 Hannon Memorial (2600m stand) at Oamaru nine days later is also on his agenda. Brinsdon is keen to start Phantom Grin on the grass in the $35,000 Methven Cup (3000m stand) on October 6.

Phantom Grin has had two workouts in this preparation, for a win at Wyndham on Saturday and a second at Ascot Park a week earlier.

''You could see he had sharpened up at Wyndham,'' Brinsdon said.

Phantom Grin was untroubled to win by two lengths in 3:3.4 (2400m mobile) at Wyndham.
