Bettor Buy It wins at trials
Bettor Buy It won at today's Ascot Park trials in preparation for a Sires' Stakes Heat at Forbury Park on October 3.
The unraced 3-year-old showed promise at trials and workouts last season for Winton trainer Des Baynes.
Phoenix Warrior ran the fastest time of the day when winning a qualifying trial in 2:47.5 (2200m mobile). Tony Barron, of Makarewa, trains Phoenix Warrior for Karl and Jan-Maree Pyle, of Waianawa. Mrs Pyle is a daughter of retired Winton trainer Alan Scobie.
Beaudiene Gambler, who qualified with a winning performance in another pacers' trial, has 15 owners. They live in Invercargill, Queenstown and Arrowtown.
Matt Saunders, who helps Beaudiene Gambler's West Plains trainer, Andrew Armour, said the owners hoped the Grinfromeartoear gelding would race at Omakau on January 2.
