Belle D'Or surprised owner-trainer Val Christophers with her bold third in the Wyndham Cup on Saturday.

She wasn't expecting it because Belle D'Or had been struck down with colic and tying up earlier in the week. Her track gallop on Thursday prompted Christophers to press on to the Wyndham Cup.

Belle D'Or is preparing for the $60,000 Riverton Cup on April 19.

Wyndham Cup runner-up Oor Wullie is being aimed at the Southern Champion Hack Handicap at Riverton on April 21. His trainer Jo Dalton, of Tisbury, could have four horses racing at the two-day meeting.

New Zealand First leader Winston Peters will be at the Riverton meeting on Easter Saturday (April 19).
