The new Doom game in development at id Software has been shown to QuakeCon attendees this afternoon, during a media blackout to ensure they got to see something special.
According to comments from people in attendance, the game is a reboot of the 20 year old franchise, and thus is simply called Doom. It's being developed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Though it has been known to be in development for a while, with pre-orders for Wolfenstein: The New Order including access to Doom beta that is yet to be scheduled, this is the first time the game has been shown to an audience.
Further details will likely be revealed during or after QuakeCon, but for now, we're limited to social media comments from attendees, like this one.
A demon just ripped the player's arms off and beat him to death with them. The room is breaking out into a standing ovation.
