Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS will include a stage based on one of Nintendo's most iconic platforms - the original Game Boy.
Over the weekend, game director Masahiro Sakurai posted a picture of the stage to Miiverse, along with the comment that "if you turn on the 3D effect, it really looks like there's a Game Boy inside the screen."
The image shows two fighters on a Game Boy screen that's blank aside from a Nintendo logo, but it's not clear if this will be the entirety of the stage. Something like Super Smash Bros. Melee's Flat Zone stage, which is based on Game & Watch devices and has a background that shifts between different Game & Watch titles, seems more likely.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS comes out on October 4, and will be joined at a later date by Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, the home console version of the same game. Each version has its own unique stages, however, so the Game Boy stage will be exclusive to 3DS.
