Over the weekend, Bungie confirmed that characters created during the recent Destiny beta will not carry over to the final game, answering a question that had been on the minds of many who took part.

"Since the Beta, we’ve continued to tune and adjust the game," explained Bungie's Tyson Green in the Bungie Weekly Update.

"The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled. Although there’s no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst."

In the beta, players were able to develop their characters up to level 8, but the full game will have a level cap of 20.

However, by using powerful gear crafted with Motes of Light which are earned in place of experience at level 20, character stats can be increased much further, effectively increasing their level beyond the cap.

Destiny launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on September 9th. For more information, see our alpha and beta previews.
