Trade Me experienced a rare outage this morning.

Spokesman Paul Ford said its site was unavailable for 10 minutes shortly after 10am, after one of its databases experienced a fault.

A statement on its website said customers may have experienced poor performance for 20 minutes.

Trade Me extended 8700 online auctions that were due to close between 10:10am and 10.45am by one hour.It had an outage of a similar length in May. The company's shares were trading up 2 cents at $3.96.
