Boxer Shane Cameron has been given the all-clear to resume punching with his right hand as he prepares for his heavyweight bout with David Tua in Hamilton in October.
The fight, originally set down for last month, was postponed after Cameron injured the hand in beating American Robert Davis in Gisborne in March.
The injury was diagnosed as three fractures and required surgery.
Manager Ken Reinsfield said today that Cameron, 31, was delighted to get the go-ahead from surgeon Tim Tasman-Jones to start punching.
"It's a great thing to get the okay," he said.
"We're pretty happy and I know the promoters, Duco Events, would be fairly relieved to have it all on track."
Until now, Cameron had been doing conditioning work and rehabilitation, as well as boxing one-handed, "so his left arm has been getting a good workout".
"He can start punching, but he still won't be punching full power straight away," Reinsfield said.
"He'll just work it up over the next few weeks and then we'll be fully in camp nine weeks from the fight."
The bout will be indoors at the Mystery Creek Events Centre on October 3.
