New Plymouth ultra endurance athlete Lisa Tamati is all set for another attempt at Death Valley.
Tamati, who became the first New Zealand woman to finish the gruelling 217km Badwater ultramarathon through the Californian desert last year, is back for a second attempt.
She left New Plymouth at the start of the month to acclimatise and tomorrow morning will set off on the race with the aim of beating her time of 38 hours, 24 minutes and 43 seconds.
"People blindly assume that I can do it because I finished last year," she said before flying out. "That's not the case, that's the arrogance trap that can come back and bite you in the butt."
The race is recognised globally as "the world's toughest foot race."
