The Tuamanator is back - big time! David Tua re-ignited his international boxing career and left some serious doubts hanging over Shane Cameron's competitive future with a stunning win in the heavyweight contest in Hamilton on Saturday night.

Tua knocked Cameron down three times - twice in the first round and finally just seven seconds into the second round for a stunning knockout victory.

On an emotional night when Howard Morrison jnr sang the national anthem in honour of his recently deceased father, Maori entertainment legend Sir Howard, and the victims of the Samoan tsunami that included an aunt of Tua were also recognised, Tua let loose with no lack of fury.

Cameron had no answers at all to the power of Tua who produced another of his trademark early decisions.

His left hook was dynamite but his combination work was just as impressive.

The win was Tua's 50th in professional fights against three losses and a draw.

Coming after a two-year lay-off and his second comeback during a turbulent period out of the ring where he has fought for his fortunes in the courts, Tua must now be considered a real chance to pick up his well-earned reputation in the United States as a serious contender amongst a thin layer of top-tier heavyweights.

He has snared Cameron's WBO Oriental and Asian-Pacific belts but it will be more interesting and undoubtedly more valuable to see what the win does for his international rankings.

Even at the age of 37 Tua might still have enough time to earn another crack at a world title. He certainly appears to still have the goods to do the business.

Taunted by Cameron as a fat old man who was past his best, Tua's response was predictably brutal.

Both boxers earned $500,000 for a fight where the pay cheques were the only even things between them.

The result will leave Cameron with plenty to ponder. At 31 he is young in professional terms for this division.

But having earned his stripes on a diet of nobodies he is now left contemplating his second defeat in 25 fights.

But more importantly this fight always loomed as a major test for him in terms of stepping up to another class of opponent.

There will be no calls for a rematch.

But the sticky situation Tua is in with a low-budget Maori TV deal covering his next three fights in New Zealand, means his future here might be limited.

It's on to bigger and brighter things for the South Auckland Samoan.

"I'd like to thank Shane for giving me the opportunity to do what I like doing tonight," said Tua.

"It was very important in every way. I have lost a lot of weight and some people said I had lost my speed and power as well.

"It's not a comeback it's a continuation. It's always great to come back and fight in New Zealand. It means the world to me."

Congrats on Tua winning the fight. Yeah and shane bro u shouldnt have called Tua out like that! In saying that I still think shanes got the ability to go all the way, hes just gotta pull his head in. People maybe wondering why im saying that? Well firstly Tua beat 2 boxers that i can recall (Hasim rahman & John Ruiz Being the one he destroyed in 12 seconds of the first round!) those guys went on 2 become world champions! So its not all doom and gloom for shane cameron guys. Tua had his chance and he failed he got taught a lesson in boxing from Lennox "jack hammer" Lewis! I think cameron with the right guidance will do fine cause he got better boxing potential, one hit wonders are gud 2 watch but they just dont make it in this world!

What a fight that was on sat night! Cameron Cameron Cameron Cameron Cameron All that smack talk just to get a hiding huh? i just laugh at your remarks about Tua, critising him and really getting everyone thinking that you would have a chance at beating him. You and your manager are too much tryna be hard and when it gets to the ring its a totally different story! the entrance was way longer than the fight thats whats so funny! lol. you could see, when they started the fight, Cameron gng hardout, throwing his punches, and Tua as always keeping it cool, knows when to strike it,taking his time. then one Punch frm Tua and Hes Goonnneeeeee! LOL ... cameron talked too much coz hes never felt tuas punches until he reached the ring striked his punch and then cameron new frm then hes got no chance what so ever! Cameron Mayte! thats what happens when you get all cocky! just know your Roll and sit down! haha ... Congrats On the Win David =] Really did SAMOA proud! To be a good fighter, is to be Humble at Heart, and thats what you are DAVID! MALO LE TAUTUA! MALO LE TAUIVI! CCCHHHUUUUUU HHHOOOOOOO!!!! Bless you xox

There is no point in a rematch, as that was a destruction Cameron had nothing! He should be learning why gets attacked the way he did & gets cuts .... GET YOUR HANDS UP ! protect yourself (not when its to late). Cameron also let himself get trapped on the ropes, which was good stalking by the Tuaman. Tua looks & sounds like a much more educated man from being away from the ring ...compared to say the Lennox fight i say he should be in there again. but those russian boys are a hard knock bunch. THERES ONLY ONE WAY TO BEAT THE TUAMAN, AND LENNOX LEWIS PLAYED THAT HAND RUN.. JAB & HIDE

DAVEY BOY SMITH?

No whats real funny is that Camerons entrance song was longer then Cameron actually being in the ring LOL!

Thats what happens when you talk too much smack and cant back it up.

Cameron would have had more sympathy from the public if he had come out in a more humble way (and not his cocky "I am number 1" entrance song).

Tua put him in his place.

This teaches him not to mess with more wise and experienced boxers.

Thanks for the fight guys, it was well worth my $40.00 !!!!! :L:L:L:L

Tua threw the punches, but for $500,000 did Shane "the mountain man" Cameron throw the fight? Probably wasn't even the fight of the night let alone the century.

congrats david well done you have silenced your critics now you can move on as for barry well i believe no pro boxer should get involved with him at all.Dropping the weight and training hard is good for the body i.e you become faster and quicker and able to move your body around so much easier all this is good for the mind and brain.Once again congrats to you all the best for the next one.

So what were all those comments Cameron was making about Tua being old, fat, past-it etc. ???
