New Plymouth's Thomas Lindup won the world under-25 solo 24 Hours of Adrenalin mountainbiking title in Alberta, Canada, this morning.

Lindup, 22, completed 15 laps of the gruelling and technical 20km course in 23 hours 46 minutes 31 seconds.

He was well clear of the field with Australian Joel Donney second with 14 laps in 23:33.22 while Anthony Salmon (Great Britain) was third with 12 laps in 23:47.38.

Lindup is well known for his mountainbiking marathon efforts in the Taranaki region, and late last year completed four laps around Lake Taupo (680km) on a road bike inside 24 hours.

Another New Zealander, Megan Dimozantos, of Muriwai, finished seventh in the the elite women's category.
