Craig Jones has shot the lowest ever recorded round in Australian professional golf history by carding a 59 on the Queensland Sunshine Tour.

Jones shot 13 under at the Horton Park Golf Club in Maroochydore to take out the Babcock & Brown Horton Park Pro-Am, one of six events on the 2008 FKP Peregian Springs Series.

Jones' round included 10 birdies, two eagles and a bogey.

He birdied every par four on the course, and sunk a 20-foot birdie putt on the final hole, a par-five, to secure his place in history.

"When I hit the putt on the last I knew it had a chance and I can't describe the feeling when it went in," said Jones, who will join the Japanese Tour on Sunday.

How will the Wellington Phoenix A-League campaign play out?

It's time, they'll win it.

They'll reach the final but won't get the big prize.

They aren't quite in the league of the Mariners and Roar so will miss the final.
