Olympic medallist Bevan Docherty has swapped triathlon for the speaking circuit.

Docherty won bronze in Beijing in August to add to the silver medal he claimed in Athens four years ago.

He is touring the South Island speaking about his Olympic experiences and is in Invercargill today before heading to Dunedin tomorrow.

Docherty is in Christchurch on Friday where he will talk to students at Christchurch Boys' High School and at a session at 7pm, also at the high school.

His tour winds up in Nelson with two more public appearances.

Meanwhile, Docherty's New Zealand Olympic team-mates, Sam Warriner, Kris Gemmell and Christchurch's Andrea Hewitt, will be in action this weekend in Mexico. Warriner will be chasing the world No.1 ranking at Huatulco in the final round of the ITU World Cup series.

The Whangarei athlete will be looking to put the disappointments of Beijing, where she finished 16th, behind her and seventh place or higher will see Warriner nab the top-ranking spot from Australian Felicity Abram. She was second in France two weeks ago under new coach Siri Lindley.

Christchurch's Hewitt, who was eighth at the Olympics, will also be a contender in Mexico.

It's been about right.
