From Saint, to sinner, to Saint again.

The Wellington Saints have signed New Zealand Breakers guard Corey Webster for the 2013 NBL season.

The 23-year-old helped the Saints to the 2011 title but was missing this year as he served a suspension for using synthetic cannabis product Kronic.

Webster, who was also suspended for using cannabis in 2010, is one of New Zealand's most gifted young players and joins Casey Frank, Arthur Trousdell, Damien Ekenasio and Jordan Mills on next year's roster.

There are five spots left to fill, including two imports.

"We have supported Corey through his year off, and worked closely with him on his journey back to the court," Saints chief executive Nick Mills said. "He brings a hardworking ethos, and the dedication that we ask from all of our players. We are excited to welcome Corey back into the Saints family."

The Saints have made a deliberate effort to get the spine of their squad intact before Christmas after being burnt by an unexpected player exodus last season.

"Corey is going to be a key part of our team in 2013 so we are happy to have him on board so early in the piece," said Saints coach Pero Cameron.

The 1.88m Tall Black has the ability to play either guard spot, and averaged 19.5 points a game in 2011.
