NZ Breakers to replace Alex Pledger with Frank

The under-performing New Zealand Breakers have turned to Casey Frank as a replacement for the injured Alex Pledger.

Tall Black Frank, who usually does the colour commentary on Breakers games for Sky Television, last played in the Australian NBL in 2009 for the Gold Coast Blaze.

He has twice previously been signed by the Breakers - in 2003 and in 2005.

At 2.03m tall, the power forward will add some height to the Breakers who are struggling on defence and facing the prospect of being without Pledger for an extended period.

Frank's signing is subject to approval by the NBL, but if approved he will be free to be picked for Friday's clash with the Melbourne Tigers.
