Alfie's Premier League
11:30am 17 Aug 2011 Well the first round of fixtures are done and dusted and I'm sure there was a sense of relief in the UK that they went off trouble-free following the riots - hopefully the Spurs v Everton postponement was a sad, but understandable, EPL one-off.

phil_style #7 Its just my opinion but I would rather see Scott Parker wear the Captains armband for England than John Terry, and although he is still very young, If my memory serves me well the Great Bobby Moore became England captain @ 23/24. But with that said I beleive after Gareth Bale he is the best player in the EPL right now...... It can not be any coincidence that as soon as Martin O'Neil takes over @ Sunderland, they look like a different team. I think Newcastle may well fade away as the season progreses and I honestly believe Tottenham Hotspur and Not Swansea are playing the best football in the League right now. And finaly can I congratulate Alfie yet again on being so far ahead of other football Blogs and Forums as Fabio Capello resigns from the England job and truly throws our game into Chaos.... Guilty or not guilty, I could never understand why someone of Capello's gravitas would have made Terry captain in the first place - his rotten character was well known to all concerned. As for Webb, well he almost ruined the world cup final with his poor judgement about when and when not to produce cards. As for Chelsea v Man U (and I'm a supporter of neither), there was a shout for a penalty in the first half. I agree with bloggers that the second penalty was never a foul, but neither was the first one. Having done a spot of refereeing, I would actually have penalised Evra for jumping over the ball and into the defender (can't remember who it was). It certainly wasn't a foul by Chelsea. Webb's a bit of a muppet. Yes, Parker might be a good captain (Lamps is getting on), but how can anyone seriously claim he's the best player in the EPL while David Silva plies his trade in the misty isles?
