Sideline Slogger: At drinks...

Last updated 08:51 11/02/2010

As you will certainly have noticed, the Sideline Slogger has gone into an extended drinks break. By way of explanation, I'm in the throes of a new job and have a first quarter of the year which is riddled with weddings, speeches and stag nights (none of which are my own at this stage).

The plan is that it will be back, but in the meantime things will continue to be pretty quiet at my end in terms of postings. However, rather than kill the Sideline Slogger off completely, I'm very keen to post up others' efforts and will obviously acknowledge these and link as appropriate. So, if you have a Sideline Slogger-esque post that you think is worthy of a public airing, fizz it through to beigebrigade@clear.net.nz. The Economist has already unleashed his barrage of ruminations and pontifications.

Cheers, The Holden

What is the going rate for a blog these days? Three cents a word, a sixer of Ranfurly Draught?

guy - you mean who doesn't have a job? I can assure you The Holden has no shortage of love (in the least disturbing kind of way!).

Dr Z - I calculate I got the equivalent about 1.2c per word for my efforts, although my expectations were zero, so I'm definitely not complaining.

Paul going off the air for a bit is a far less serious misdemeanour than two weekends in a row without cricket in the middle of an international tour. New Zealand Cricket, really, WTF?!?!?!?

I kinda agree with guy, been waiting for the 2010 NZ international season to begin so we could have our regular fix of the Sideline Slogger but alas not for a while. And yes it does seem VERY odd NZ cricket having ODI's during the week - why was the one dayer in Dunedin not on the sunday - day games should be on weekends!!!

Sorry to hear Holden Look forward to hearing from you again. Does anybody know why New Zealand Cricket scheduled every single day of the Bangladesh tour on a week day. No weekend games whatsoever. Those of us who have to work have been severely short changed. What does everyone else think?

Disappointing Holden but I know how that "too busy for anything!" goes. Will look forward to the return.

Now to think about something with which I might conceivably help to fill the gap...hmmm, obscure statistics? Crackpot theories? Wild accusations?

But in the form of Hikau's?

Without Bond, hope fails Who'll dismiss Ricky Ponting? My tears splash my beer.

How hard is it to write a blog, timewise, I think the excuse is lame!
