MONARCH MOMENT: Australia hockey players Jayde Taylor and Brooke Peris had their Games selfie photobombed by the Queen.

Perhaps inspired by his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Harry has photobombed a shot of three Kiwis in Glasgow.

The Prince today popped up with a double thumbs-up in the background of a photo of Sport Manawatu chief executive Trevor Shailer, sports psychologist Gary Hermansson and New Zealand sevens coach Sir Gordon Tietjens.

The Kiwi trio had been watching the day's swimming action at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games a few rows in front of Prince Harry, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge.

BIG UPS PHOTOBOMB: Prince Harry stars in a Commonwealth Games picture of NZ sevens coach Gordon Tietjens, Sport Manawatu chief executive Trevor Shailer and sports psychologist Gary Hermansson.

In the photo, taken by former New Zealand hockey rep Bev Hari and posted on Sport Manawatu's Facebook page, Prince Harry could be seen giving a double thumbs up behind Shailer.

"Photo of the day," Shailer wrote on Facebook.

"A Royal photo bomb by Prince Harry with Titch (Sir Gordon) and Gary Hermansson at the Swimming venue tonight."

Another candid photo making the rounds on social media today was of the cheeky prince while apparently popping the question to Australian hockey player Rachael Lynch.

"Harry proposed ... and I said yes! Great to have the girls there for that special moment," the Hockeyroos goalkeeper posted on Twitter, accompanied by a photo of her meeting Prince Harry.

"I asked him to move back to Melbourne with me so he will be at the next family catch up."

Earlier in the week a photo of Australian hockey players Jayde Taylor and Brooke Peris went viral after the Queen inadvertently photobombed a selfie the pair were taking.
