Kiwi runners Nikki Hamblin and Angie Smit have qualified for Saturday's 800m final with strong showings this morning.

Tina Hakeai, who is rated one of New Zealand's rising stars in track and field, has also booked her place in Saturday's discus final with a strong throw of 57.19m.

They were awesome. I couldn't get enough of them.

It was great to see NZ do well and I've enjoyed the coverage.

I caught bits and pieces but I'm glad they are over.
