USAIN BOLT: "I'm just not ... it's a big shit," the Jamaican sprinter said to a reporter from The Times when asked why he wasn't enjoying his time in Glasgow.

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has said it was nonsense that he had called the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow "a bit shit".

According to The Times newspaper, the world's fastest man - and the Games' biggest drawcard - also said he is "not really" enjoying himself in Glasgow and that the Olympics were better.

The Times has published what it says is the transcript to back up the story Usain Bolt has labelled nonsense and lies.

NOT HAVING FUN: World's fastest man Usain Bolt is believed to be on record as saying the Commonwealth Games are "a bit s***".

The encounter was reportedly as follows:

Katie Gibbons (KG, Times reporter): Hi Usain, I'm Katie Gibbons, a reporter from The Times. Nice to meet you.

Usain Bolt (UB): Hi.

KG: How are you?

UB: (Shrugs)

KG: So are you enjoying the games? Are you having fun?

UB: No.

KG: Really, why not?

UB: I'm just not... it's a bit shit. (Shrugs, looks up to grey sky).

KG: What do you mean?

UB: I've only been here two days.

KG: Is it like the Olympics?

UB: Nah. Olympics were better.

KG: Really, how?

UB: (Shrugs).

KG: Where are you off to now?

UB: To do some business.

The Jamaican sprinter was given a rock star welcome to Glasgow but has kept a relatively low profile since.

Notably, he attended a reception with the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry on Tuesday, and watched Jamaica's Sunshine Girls play netball against New Zealand on Wednesday, while other spectators watched him.

After the netball, he was again asked what he thought of the Games.

"Awesome," he shouted to the media throng.

Having missed the Jamaican selection trials last month, Bolt will only contest the 4x100m relay in Glasgow on Friday.
