When it comes to countries well known for their table tennis expertise, Nigeria does not immediately spring to mind for most.

However, that may have changed slightly after a video from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow has gone viral on social media.

Playing for Nigeria in the men's team competition, Segun Toriola executed an astonishing display of defensive table tennis to win a mammoth 41-shot rally against Singapore counterpart Ning Gao.

Toriola is pinned metres back from the table for almost the entire rally, while his opponent bears down attempting to produce a winner. The Nigerian seems out of the point on numerous occasions, but somehow manages to keep the ball in play before Gao eventually pushes a forehand long.
