Bangladesh were 51 runs for five wickets in their second innings at stumps on day two of the second cricket test against New Zealand, 199 short of making their hosts bat again on the Basin Reserve.
New Zealand made 393 in their first innings and then knocked the top off Bangladesh's innings in the 22 overs available before stumps.
The tourists are also hampered by the absence of opener Tamim Iqbal, who has been unable to bat after fracturing his left thumb when dropping a catch in the first over of the day.
