Ross Taylor was in rollicking form as New Zealand crushed Bangladesh in the second one-day international in Dunedin today.

Taylor thumped 78 off 52 balls as the Black Caps cantered to their winning target of 184 with five wickets and more than 22 overs to spare.

The win gave the Black Caps the one-day series. Following their 146-run win in Napier and the 10-wicket T20 win, the Black Caps scored 185-5 to continue their efficient ways.

Taylor's strokes blossomed with six fours and five sixes in another display to confirm him as New Zealand's premier batsman.

Only his dismissal with five runs left for victory will have frustrated Taylor on a beautiful southern day at the University Oval.

New Zealand put some good partnerships together after Brendon McCullum was out early again, cutting a ball on to his stumps.

Martin Guptill was cleaned out by Rubel Hossain for a swift 32 just after the 50 was posted.

Peter Ingram continued his encouraging start, moving through to 28 before he was caught.

James Franklin provided a sturdy partner for Taylor, content to turn over the strike and being unbeaten on 20.

The eventual demise of Taylor and the instant removal of Neil Broom were unecessary for the Black Caps who had been in charge from the outset.

Only a stubborn seventh wicket partnership of 101 between Naeem Islam and Mushfiuqur Rahim brought some respectability to the Bangladesh scoreboard of 183-8 after they were asked to bat. Just two other batsman reached double figures.

On a wicket where Otago and Auckland had plundered runs in a recent domestic match, the Bangladesh batting was firstly woeful and then painfully slow through the middle stages before a late flurry woke the decent-sized crowd.

To get close to 200 was a miracle for Bangladesh because for a while 100 looked to be an impossibility for the tourists.

Left armer fast bowler Andy McKay, who impressed on debut in the last match, starred early again. He had Tamim Iqbal caught by McCullum in the second over.

That started a steady procession of wickets.

Disaster struck Bangladesh when their other opener Imrul Kayes was foolishly run out from a Martin Guptill throw.

Darryl Tuffey was at his casual best to remove Mohammad Ashraful caught and bowled.

McKay struck again when Shakib Al Hasan played a 142km/h delivery on to his own wickets.

McKay had 2-4 from his first seven overs.

Ian Butler, who started the match at the expense of Tim Southee, came into the attack and had Aftab Ahmed caught behind.

New Zealand had won the toss and made just the one change to the team that won in Napier by 146 runs.

Another poor run out kept Bangladesh struggling at 46-6.

Naeem and Mushfiuqur set about trying to salvage the innings and did a decent job if it before Naeem was cleaned out by Butler for 43 off 81 balls.

Butler got his third scalp when he trapped Mushfiuqur lbw for 86 in the final over.

Bangladesh made two changes with batsman Raqibul Hossain and seamer Nazmul Hossain being replaced by Aftab Ahmed and Rubel Hossain.
