Yuvraj Singh's mother says the allrounder has been recovering from a lung tumour that he probably carried through the World Cup, which he helped India win on home soil earlier this year.
Shabnam Singh says in a statement released today that Yuvraj Singh suffered from constant "bouts of coughing and vomiting" during the World Cup and medical tests revealed a "golf-ball size lump over the left lung."
The statement says the tumour is nonmalignant and can be treated through proper medication and therapy and also that he is on the "way to a full recovery."
The 28-year-old left-hander, who was named man of the series at the World Cup, has opted out of a five-game one-day home series against the West Indies that starts Tuesday.
