Martin Guptill breaks record for fastest 50 in New Zealand T20 cricket.

Black Caps opener Martin Guptill hit the fastest 50 by a New Zealander in Twenty20 cricket, only to be eclipsed a few overs later by teammate Colin Munro.

Guptill blazed away as the Black Caps chased the Sri Lankan total of 142 on Sunday at Eden Park, with his 50 coming up in just 19 balls.

He and Aaron Redmond had previously shared the record, off 23 balls.

He was eventually out for 63, off 35 balls, as New Zealand cruised towards victory.

But Munro replaced him at the crease - and in the New Zealand record books.

His 50 came up in just 14 balls - he smashed a six to claim the record and give New Zealand victory.

It was the second fastest T20 in international cricket, with India's Yuvraj Singh holding the record - off 12 balls.
