England, inspired by spinners Monty Panesar and Graeme Swann, completed a 10-wicket rout of India early on the fourth day of the second cricket test in Mumbai to square the four-match series 1-1.

India could only add 25 runs to their overnight score of 117-7, dismissed in their second innings for 142 which left the tourists just 57 to win.

Openers Alastair Cook and Neil Compton wiped the target off inside 10 overs.

Panesar and Swann claimed all 10 second innings wickets between them, Panesar ending with 6-81 and 11 wickets for the match while Swann took 4-43 to go with his four first innings wickets.

James Anderson's dismissal of Gautam Gambhir with the second ball of the test match was the only wicket England's pace bowlers needed to take. Panesar and Swann did the rest.

Kevin Pietersen with 186 and Cook with 122 were the other England players to make significant contributions, setting up England's first innings total of 413 which gave them an 86-run advantage on the first innings after India, who won the first test in Ahmedabad by nine wickets, had been dismissed for 327.

The third test is in Kolkata starting on December 5.
