The Auckland Aces have comfortably beaten the Canterbury Wizards in Plunket Shield cricket action today.
Resuming this morning at 153-2, Auckland cruised to their victory target of 219 in just a further 12.4 overs.
Former Black Cap opener Tim McIntosh top scored with an unbeaten 77 while middle order batsman Craig Cachopa was dismissed shortly before the target was reached for 57.
Auckland's win, just their second outright of the season, has leapt them into second place in the six-team competition though the four other teams are all midway through a match.
Canterbury, who made all the play through the first two and a half days in their match with Auckland at Eden Park No 2, remain stuck in fifth place.
Canterbury enjoyed a lead of 98 on the first innings, but capitulated during yesterday's third day to be all out for just 120 as Kyle Mills took his second five wicket haul of the match and Bruce Martin picked up five wickets too.
Auckland then hit out in yesterday's third session as Lou Vincent (43 from 28) and McIntosh put on 71 for the first wicket.
