Bracewell has CD in charge against Canterbury
Doug Bracewell has his Plunket Shield-leading Central Districts side right on top at lunch on day one against Canterbury in Rangiora.
Bracewell took three top order wickets to leave the hosts reeling at 79-4 at lunch.
He dismissed the competition's leading scorer Peter Fulton - caught behind for one - in his first spell then removed Henry Nicholls and Dean Brownlie in his second.
At the break, Bracewell had the impressive figures of 3-19 off 12.
Andrew Lamb picked up the other wicket, removing Canterbury's top scorer George Worker for 34.
After being put in and losing Fulton in the match's fifth over with the score still at just one, Canterbury were watchful.
After 15 overs they were still only on 20, but had seemingly negated any early movement in the deck.
Until Bracewell came back.
As well as his usual outswinger, Bracewell was able to get considerable movement off the pitch.
After tying Nicholls down - the 21-year-old batted 95 minutes for his 21 - Bracewell picked him up driving loosely at a full, wide ball.
Six balls later he nabbed dangerman Brownlie, who tried to hit a straight ball too square and was out leg before wicket.
At lunch, Canterbury had Tom Latham (10no) and Shanan Stewart (5no) at the crease.
