Honours are even at the halfway mark of Canterbury-Central Districts Plunket Shield match in Rangiora.

Canterbury reached stumps tonight at 55-2, with a lead of 58 runs and two days to play.

CD started the day with 10 wickets in hand and at 32 without loss in response to Canterbury's 252 first innings score.

But regular wickets stopped them getting away and a late flurry resulted in Canterbury picking up a three-run first innings lead.

The top four all got starts for CD, but it was captain Kieran Noema-Barnett, batting at No 5 and Black Cap Doug Bracewell that gave the side's innings substance.

Noema-Barnett scored 57 and Bracewell reached 61 before Canterbury all rounder Ben McCord removed both.

And from 211-5, CD were all out for 249.

McCord and Todd Astle grabbed three wickets apiece for Canterbury.

CD looked to have wrestled back the momentum late today when both Canterbury openers were removed early, but Henry Nicholls (19no) and Dean Brownlie (27no) got Canterbury through to stumps for no further damage.
